No further considerations are required. The mucosal horn diagnosis is purely clinical.
This is a localized benign hypertrophy of the filiform papillae, which is hyper-keratinized. The etiology remains unknown. This clinical situation is rare and can be observed at any age. The treatment is the surgical excision (CO2 laser or surgical blade) with pathological examination. The wound healing process occurs quickly with no complication and a normal-looking healed mucosa.
